چکیده

In this paper, we propose a method for image overlay on the front glass of a vehicle to navigate a driver to a desired destination. By overlaying the navigation imformation on the front glass, the driver need not gaze at the console panel. Therefore, accidents caused by gazing at console panel could be reduced. To overlay the image accurately on the target object through the front glass, both the vehicle’s position/orientation and the driver’s position/orientation are estimated by vision-based tracking and measuring angular velocities of the vehicle’s wheels. Experimental results show the validity of the proposed method.

Single point active alignment method (SPAAM) for optical see-through HMD calibration for augmented reality

Augmented reality (AR) is a technology in which a user’s view of the real world is enhanced or augmented with additional information generated from a computer model. In order to have a working AR system, the see-through display system must be calibrated so that the graphics is properly rendered. The optical see-through systems present an additional challenge because, unlike the video see-throug...

Realizing embodied interaction for visual analytics through large displays

Visual analysts are engaged with the arduous task of scrutinizing increasingly larger datasets. Where conventional desktop displays are reaching their limits in terms of performance efficiency with large datasets, analysts can turn to larger displays. In a world of extensive multi-scale datasets, large high-resolution displays have the potential to show both more overview and detail for a given...

Computer vision-based registration techniques for augmented reality

Augmented reality is a term used to describe systems in which computer-generated information is superimposed on top of the real world; for example, through the use of a see-through head-mounted display. A human user of such a system could still see and interact with the real world, but have valuable additional information, such as descriptions of important features or instructions for performin...

Technical Note: Towards Virtual Monitors for Image Guided Interventions - Real-time Streaming to Optical See-Through Head-Mounted Displays

Purpose: Image guidance is crucial for the success of many interventions. Images are displayed on designated monitors that cannot be positioned optimally due to sterility and spatial constraints. This indirect visualization causes potential occlusion, hinders hand-eye coordination, leads to increased procedure duration and surgeon load. Methods: We propose a virtual monitor system that displays...
